Dr. Maria Morfoulaki is an Application Scientist A’ working at CERTH-HIT since 2001 and being the head of the Laboratory “Demand and Mobility Management and Development of Sustainable Mobility Systems”. She is a Transportation Engineer having a great experience on Transportation Planning Models, Public Transport Operational and Quality issues and Urban Sustainable Transport issues. She obtained her diploma as a Civil Engineer from the Polytechnic School of the Aristotle University of Thessaloniki. Her Ph.D dealt with Public Transport Quality Measures, while her MSc diploma on Systems’ Simulation was obtained from the University of Thessaly. Her professional experience covers a wide range of studies and research programs with subjects related to urban mobility issues, traffic management, transportation master plans, transportation planning using simulation analysis and transportation systems’ management emphasizing on the quality, the safety and the reduction of environmental impacts. The most recent expertise is focused on the development of Sustainable Mobility Plans (SUMPs). She is an author and co-author of many papers that were published in scientific journals or conferences’ proceedings while she is participating-representing HIT – in many committees of scientific and other transport related organizations, such as UITP, POLIS, CIVITAS, ECTRI.
